Netiquette Can Remove The Gender Divide!

The following is from my new book, "You're Hired!" Please see the information following the Blog post.

Using Netiquette to Remove the Gender Divide

—Earl Nightingale

Earlier, I mentioned that Netiquette serves as one of the most immediate equalizers for demographic disparities. Additionally, women can give themselves a definite edge by employing the Netiquette information given within this book in a consistent, ever-improving process. Other aspects of the hiring cycle are defined in countless articles, books, and multimedia sources. However, without good Netiquette, you may never get in the door. Once you have captured a recruiter or hiring manager’s attention and demonstrated your communication skills to present your platform, your possibilities will be greatly improved.
With most companies, the gender divide that faces you will, at least, be decreased by manifesting all of your Netiquette and other skills. Moreover, superior Netiquette will always be of great benefit to you as you go forward in your new job, and these skills will serve to assist you in reaching your goals and furthering your opportunities for promotion or other pursuits within the organization. The more important or visible the emails and communications you send, the more necessary Netiquette excellence is and will continue to be.

Core Principles for Women Engaged in the Job Search

1.       Stay true to your code of ethics.
2.       Set realistic goals, and use your Netiquette skills to present them when necessary.
3.       Customize every email you can.
4.       Do not discuss any items related to gender in your emails or interviews.
5.       Be proactive with seeking employment.
6.       Keep the information displayed on your social-media pages in sync with your résumé, and make a reference to all sites you have joined in your email signature.
7.       Maintain patience with your job-search process. Even with NQS, there is time overhead to consider. Moreover, the hiring process time for many companies has grown longer that it was pre-2008.
8.       Show recognition that the recruiter or hiring manager is in a difficult and highly responsible position.
9.       Try to emphasize your knowledge of all job-related skills, experiences, technologies, and any other potential attributes.
10.    Welcome difficult questions.
11.    Offer to share personal timelines, marketing plans, or anything that will help to suggest that your learning and adjustment times will be minimal.
12.    If you have knowledge of any successful women in the organization, mention and compliment them.
